Robert Pearce - Chair of Trustees
Rob is passionate about delivering high-quality, effective services. As an experienced professional within the charity and not-for-profit sector, he has wide experience in delivering business-related solutions in challenging environments.

Margaret Harrison - Vice-Chair of Trustees
Margaret is determined to make a difference to the lives of people with a learning disability in her local area. She has over thirty years of business experience with BT plc, bringing a wealth of business and customer service knowledge to her role as a trustee.

Richard Lane - Vice-Chair of Trustees
Richard is a qualified solicitor, working for Wright Hassall LLP from 1990 to 2020, as a partner from 1994, and a member of the Management Board for 22 years. He currently serves as a consultant for Metro PM Chartered Surveyors, Chairman and trustee of the Friends of St James’, and a member of the National Disciplinary Panel for England Netball, as well previously being an elected trustee for Stratford upon Avon Town Trust from 2014 to 2018.

Opusdei Aghanenu
Initially joining as part of the UK Boardroom Apprentice scheme, Opusdei committed to making a difference in the lives of people with learning disabilities by continuing as a trustee. Opusdei brings her expertise in health and social care to this role, as an accomplished doctor specialising in public health medicine.

Katie Barber
Katie joined Heart of England Mencap as an intern and continued on as a trustee. As a student at the University of Warwick her dissertation topic was on Adults with Learning Disabilities access to Health Services and working with the customers, she coproduced research on their experiences which they used to explore their access to health and rights. Katie is currently a Research Assistant for the Research Institute for Disabled Consumers.

Robert Glinton
Robert qualified as a chartered accountant in Edinburgh, and has since moved south and spent most of his career in financial control roles in industry, until retiring in 2023. He has also been an associate non-executive director in the NHS, and been part of many mental health act review hearings. Robert is looking forward to contributing to Heart of England Mencap.

Sue Johnson-Gregory
An independent business consultant, Sue is passionate about helping teams bring about positive change. Sue brings experience of helping the not-for-profit and public sector to design and implement improved services to their customers - and is excited to help Heart of England Mencap continue its journey to provide ever-better services.

Natasha Mills
Natasha is a values-driven person who chose to stay on to be a trustee following the Uk Boardroom Apprentice Scheme, due to her passion for making a difference in a hugely values-driven organisation like Mencap Heart of England in her region.
With her experience in Physiotherapy and well-being with Olympic and Paralympic Athletes, her experience of recreation sports and dance, and her current role at British Gymnastics and Sports Structure in the space of Equity Diversity Inclusion, and Anti-Discrimination these diverse experiences are what she hopes will add value to Mencap Heart of England.

Frank Sprules
Frank’s daughter, Amelia, lived at home with him and his wife until she was 41, when she moved into a Heart of England Mencap’s residential services. He has, over the last 40 years, volunteered across day services, getting involved with every activity.

Keith Yates
Keith is the founder and Managing Director of Enstruct Training, an alternative education provision in Leicestershire. Since 2012 Keith and his team have dedicated their time to enriching the lives of young people by offering engaging and accessible vocational learning programmes across a range of sectors.
Programmes are designed to reflect individual needs of learners, fostering their self-esteem, confidence and their physical and mental wellbeing whilst enhancing learners’ knowledge and practical skills in preparation for healthy and sustainable futures in the world of work.
